The Pasangrahan is the town hall of Bonaire and is located near Plasa Wilhelmina close to Fort Orange and the Government Office. This building (block style, kas di kaha) was built round 1890 and was originally the home of the Debrot family. | |
In 1921 it became a guest house for officials from other islands. Public Affairs used it as an office until 1980 when it was restored. After restoration it was reopened in 1980 as the Island Parliament House where the island council meets. On March 2, 1944, the former queen Juliana had a short pause during her one day visit. It is today the town hall of Bonaire. From 2012 to 2014 a new restoration project took place with a new entrance for disabled people, a stairlift, speakers for people with hearing loss, tactile paving, disabled toilet alarm and anti-moisture solution.
